2K Games has secured a seasoned producer from Respawn Entertainment to lead the development team at 31st Union, which is currently developing the forthcoming over-the-shoulder action-packed title known as this innovative game.

Leadership Shift Comes After Mixed Feedback

The new appointee steps into the leadership position at the development studio following the exit of former leader Michael Condrey, who was reportedly let go due to the game's disappointing initial reveal last autumn.

Recently, the company's top executive a key figure updated team members about this strategic move through an official communication, which stressed that early feedback sessions had revealed the need for a clearer direction.

Ismailer expressed that the team is now overhauling the project with a revised approach, aiming to address player expectations.

A Pattern of Key Hires

This announcement mirrors a similar action taken by 2K Games in August, when they brought on an industry veteran from the Diablo team to work on the BioShock studio Cloud Chamber.

The player input from last fall’s Project ETHOS playtest was informative. It affirmed the promise of a roguelike shooter but made clear we still had refinements needed. It revealed the need for a more distinct vision.

It’s been inspiring to see how far you’ve come. You took the feedback to heart and overhauled the title with a revitalized goal - one that’s poised to fulfill its potential to our players.

Our confidence in Project ETHOS grows every day. To further the outstanding advancement you’ve made, I’m excited to announce the new hire as the latest Director of 31st Union. After several months of conversations, Ben officially joins us on Monday, October 20.

His guidance and background in the PVP shooter field is vast, having spent the recent years creating and managing some of the most well-known series in the industry, such as Call of Duty: Black Ops, and most recently, the battle royale hit.
